Description

Species-rich deciduous meadow and broadleaf forest with high natural values can be found in Hörningsnäs nature reserve. The meadow is mowed annually with a scythe by the local nature conservation association in collaboration with Botkyrka municipality. Everyone is welcome to help with cutting and mowing. You can find more information about this on the local nature conservation association in Botkyrka's website www.gaerdsmygen.se. The meadow is beautifully surrounded by a fence. Here, those interested can find more or less rare flowers, grasses and fungi, such as maidenhair fern, hogweed and various waxwings. Visit and have a picnic with your family in the meadow in spring or summer. This is when the flowers are at their peak under the delicate foliage of the hazel bushes.

From Tumba you can take a bus that goes to Skanssundet. From there it is a few kilometers walk north along the Sörmlandsleden to the reserve. By car, turn right on Nynäshamnsvägen where there are signs for Skanssundet at the junction with Botkyrka Golf Club. Then follow the road almost down to Skanssundet but turn right towards näs by. Along this road you reach Hörningsnäs nature reserve.

To protect the natural values in Hörningsnäs nature reserve, special regulations apply. Among other things, it is forbidden to damage the land, plants, trees or wildlife, to light fires outside designated areas and to keep dogs off leads.

Parking is only permitted in designated areas and the parking of caravans is prohibited.

Horseback riding is only allowed on landscaped roads.

Some activities, such as prolonged camping, major events or the erection of signs, require the municipality's permission. If you are planning an activity that contravenes the regulations, you need to apply for a permit or exemption in advance.
