Description
From the middle of the 18th century, a croft up here was called Hästhagen. The croft was part of Nacka Bruk. Around 1925, Hästhagen began to be transformed into a residential area. The brewer Otto Emil Neimüller, who had owned Hästhagen for some time, was forced to sell the land due to the recession after the First World War. The area was divided up for detached houses and many buyers built their own houses according to blueprints. Take a few detours, and you'll see examples of 1920s style houses with broken roofs and more austere 1930s functionalist houses.
Neimüller's own mansion-like villa was bought by Ersta Diakonisällskap, which converted the house into the Erstagården nursing home. The architect behind the building was Edward Bernhard. His other works include the Åhléns department store at Skanstull. The style can be called Art Nouveau Baroque.
