Description
Ekebysjön is a popular recreational area with a walking trail around the lake. There is a footbridge out into the lake for bird watching that allows the visitor to get close to the water. The natural environment is varied, ranging from swamps and marshes to pastures and hay meadows to dry heathland vegetation and rocky outcrops. Each vegetation area has its own specific plant and animal life, and several are habitats for threatened or protected species.
Ekebysjön and the surrounding green area became a nature reserve in 2008 because of the rich bird life in the lake. The nature school has a cabin adjacent to the lake. There is also a playground with tree houses, a swing set, a house and a sandpit.
Regulations
The nature reserve was created in 2008 thanks to the abundance of rare species of waterfowl that have made the lake their home.
In the reserve it is illegal to:

- cause damage to the forest, rice, herbaceous or ground vegetation
- bring an unleashed dog
- knowingly disturb wildlife
- making an open fire, other than in a designated and prepared place

- planting plant or animal species alien to the area
- hike or cycle other than on marked trails.
