Directions
By bus: Take the bus from Gullmarsplan or the Handen bus terminal (Handenterminalen at Haningen centrum) towards Dalarö and get off at Svärdsnäsviken bus stop. The bus stops right by the reserve's parking lot and main entrance. For current information on bus routes and schedules, visit SL.se
By car: From Route 73, take the exit towards Dalarö. After 15 km, take a right at the sign for "naturreservat Sandemar" into the parking lot.
To get to the calcareous fens, continue on the bus to the bus stop Sandemar. If travelling by car, continue driving on Dalarövägen road for a little over 2 km (past the manor house and the gravel quarry) and turn right onto a small unmarked road just after the gravel quarry. From the small parking lot, follow a path down to the beach and the fens.
Regulations
To protect Sandemar Nature Reserve, there are rules you must follow.
In the reserve it is forbidden to
- during the period March 1 - August 31, enter the bird protection area marked on the map in Appendix 1 of the decision
- throughout the year, drive a boat or other vessel on water within the part of Svärdsnäsviken marked on the map
- destroy or damage rock, soil or stone by drilling, hacking, blasting, grating, digging, painting or similar
- break branches, fell or otherwise damage living or dead trees and shrubs or otherwise damage vegetation by digging up plants such as rice, herbs, mosses or lichens or removing woody fungi
- disturbing wildlife (e.g. by climbing nest trees, trapping or killing mammals, birds, reptiles or amphibians)
- bringing an unleashed dog
- camping for more than two consecutive days
- make a fire other than in a designated place
- set up a caravan or boat
- put up a board, poster, poster, sign or make an inscription
- drive a motorized vehicle or ride a bicycle in the terrain.
Regulations 1 and 2 do not apply to the landowner and his people, state or municipal officials in the performance of their duties or staff who manage the area on behalf of the nature conservation manager.
