This nature reserve has scattered infestations of spruce bark beetles. It means that there are a lot of dead standing spruces in the forest and along paths. The spruces may fall suddenly and without warning. Watch out and avoid visiting the nature reserve when it is windy.

Description

Bränntorpet Nature Reserve includes with coniferous forest, lime-rich coniferous woodland, and deciduous forest spread across two nearby areas. The reserve is home to several rare and protected species of mosses, lichens, and fungi.

There are no visitor facilities apart from informational signs.

Directions

The reserve is located near Bränntorpet, approximately 5 km southwest of Edsbro in Norrtälje Municipality. There is no designated parking area adjacent to the reserve.

Regulations

To protect the Bränntorpet Nature Reserve, there are rules that must be followed.

Within the reserve, it is prohibited to:

  • dig, hack, drill, paint, blast, or otherwise damage rock, soil, or stone
  • break branches, fell trees, or otherwise damage living or dead trees and shrubs, or dig up plants
  • camp for more than two consecutive days
