Description
Biskopstuna is a medieval castle ruin in Österskär. The castle may have been built as early as the end of the 13th century by the Archbishop of Uppsala, who then owned the farm Tuna. You can visit the castle by borrowing the key from Österåker library. In the summer of 2018-2020, an archaeological research survey and amateur archaeology courses are being conducted at the castle.

Arkeologiska utgrävningar 2018-2020
Den arkeologiska forskningsundersökningen pågår sommartid i borgruinens omgivningar. Hittills har delar av de plana gräsytorna söder och sydväst om borgruinen undersökts. I samband med undersökningen arrangeras amatörarkeologiska kurser. Kurserna har varit två-fyra dagar långa och omfattat utbildning, fältarbete och uppföljning av resultaten. Kursen leds av arkeologerna Ann-Mari Hållans Stenholm och Lena Beronius-Jörpeland från Arkeologerna. 2018 medverkade 42 kursdeltagare och 2019 48 stycken.
