Store Mosse National Park – Southern Sweden's sea of marshes

Store Mosse is southern Sweden's largest contiguous marshland area – a landscape of open expanses, tranquil marshes, and forest-covered sand dunes reminiscent of the mountain world. The vast raised bog has grown over 8,000 years and is now one of the country's most valuable wetland areas.

The national park, located between Värnamo and Gnosjö in the middle of the Smålandsleden trail, covers around 7,800 hectares and is included on the international Ramsar List thanks to its rich bird life and unique nature. Here you will find pine and swamp forests, marshes, orchid meadows, and the well-known bird lake Kävsjön with a nature center, bird tower, and hiking trails.

Traces of human history remain in the form of old peat pits and the farms Svänö and Lövö – a reminder of life on the bog in the past. Today, Store Mosse is a place where nature, culture, and tranquility meet – a piece of wilderness in the middle of Småland.
