Description

Swim, fish and walk your dog. Enjoy the waterfall, the swirling giant clam and the kingfisher. At the winding waters of Vramsån you can do as much as possible - or as little as possible.

A walk along the Vramsån in Gärds Köpinge provides peace and coolness on a hot summer day. Here the river flows sometimes fast, sometimes slow. Maidenhair butterflies flutter over the water like small shiny blue helicopters, and the giant water lily blooms in white flower meadows in the middle of the river.

Nature offers experiences all year round. When the water recedes in the spring, islands of water lilies and wild garlic grow by the falls. In autumn, the trees burst into a glorious symphony of color. In the winter, the water forms beautiful ice formations and the oystercatcher takes an ice-cold bath by the salmon ladder.

The old bathing place was once located next to the bridge. 50 years ago, children were bussed here from neighboring villages to learn to swim. Even today, the bathing area is important to the people of Köping. Here they light bonfires, fish, play boules, learn about nature and enjoy the peace and greenery by the water.

Vramsån still has its winding course, shady trees and an influx of groundwater. The cold, oxygen-rich water is home to many fish, bugs and mussels. Vramsån is unusually rich in mussels. The river pearl mussel is a real rarity.

The river is almost pastoral in its tranquillity. Sheep grazing in the nearby pasture, water moving and sounding. Perhaps you will catch a glimpse of a glittering blue bird. If so, it's almost certainly a kingfisher flying overhead.
