In English

Welcome to Hallandsås nordsluttning (the northern slope) and Täppesås Nature Reserves

An old cultural landscape with pastures and fields is found on top of this spur of the Hallandsåsen Ridge. Here you also have spectacular views across the Laholm Bay. Forest starts on the slopes down to Båstad and the coast. The open landscape turns into a diverse broad-leaved deciduous forest with rippling streams in the ravines.

The Bjäre Peninsula is one of the first places where humans settled after the Ice Age. The open landscape contains many ancient remains from different eras, everything from the Bronze Age 3,000 years ago until the cultivated landscape of the 19th century. Within the reserve you find a number of cup and ring marks; small indentations in stones where sacrifices were made to ensure rich crops and good health. Stone walls bear witness to the hard work involved in cultivating the soil.

Multi-layered forests with a mix of trees grow on the slopes. Beech, elm, ash and birch dominate, interspersed with oak, Norway maple and wild cherry. Hazel, bird cherry and elder grow beneath the trees. On steep sections and along streams, the forest mainly consists of small-leaved lime and Norway maple.

The field layer is rich in herbs includingdog's mercury, woodruff and perennial honesty. In the wettest areas are alder swamp forests and plants such as alternate-leaved golden-saxifrage, marsh hawk's-beard, and marsh valerian. Shady and humid areas with old forest containing many mosses and lichens havethe highest biological values.
