Nabben Nature Reserve is a remnant of Kulla Fälad, a vast common for grazing animals that once dominated the landscape on the Kulla peninsula. The grasslands were grazed until the 1940s but have retained their heather and grassland vegetation to this day. The rocky coastal heath in Nabben offers fine views of Skälderviken and from the old Bronze Age graves Nabbahögarna you have a good view of Arild. You can follow the Skåneleden trail through the reserve.

A landscape steeped in culture

The landscape in Nabben has retained its character over the centuries and is therefore of great cultural and historical value. The rocky landscape, the shingle fields and the wide views from the highest parts are the same for us as for those who lived here hundreds of years ago. The ancient site of Nabbahögarna bears witness to the fact that the area was already populated in the Bronze Age.

Varied open land

A walk in Nabben takes you through fields, groves and shingle fields on the shoreline. The Litorina Sea has formed beach embankments with rounded rocks and rauks in the bedrock. The proximity to Kullaberg is reflected in a more or less steep rock wall inland.

Rich bird life all year round

Like the entire coastal area of Skälderviken, Nabben offers a varied menu for birdwatchers. In spring and fall, it is a resting place for many seabirds and waders, and some of them winter here. The shore meadows and dense bushes are a breeding ground for small waders and small birds. Eider, oystercatcher and corn bunting are among the birds often found in the reserve. On the calcareous pastures in the reserve, you can find the orchid St. Persimmon.

Outdoor life

The Skåneleden trail runs through the entire reserve, from Skäret in the east to Arild in the west. This rocky coastal heath offers fine views of Skälderviken. From Nabbahögarna (burial mounds from the Bronze Age) you have a particularly nice view towards Arild. For a longer walk, you can start in Arild and follow the Skåneleden trail through the reserves that follow the coast further east (Bölsåkra-Tranekärr Link to another website. and Jonstorp-Vegeåns mynning Link to another website.). It is located in the nortwest of Skåne county.

Remains of Kulla Fälad

Nabben Nature Reserve is the remains of the extensive grazed pasture, Kulla Fälad. The site was a grazed heathland up until the 1940s when grazing was abandoned. Heathland vegetation can still be found. The Nabbahögarna mounds from the Bronze Age, remind us of the fact that the area has been inhabited by man over a long period.

Historic views

The landscape at Nabben has maintained its character over hundreds of years and it is thus of great historical value. The cliffs, the shingle areas and the extensive view are the same for us, as it was for those who lived here hundreds of years ago.

For walkers and joggers

A walk through Nabben takes you through pastures, woods and shingle areas on the edge of the shore. The Littorina Sea has formed banks with rounded pebbles and stacks from the bedrock. The proximity to Kullaberg makes itself clear by the cliff inland, which varies in steepness.

Birds all year round

Like the whole coast around the Skälderviken bay, Nabben offers a varied menu for bird watchers. In the spring and autumn, it is a resting site for many sea birds and waders and some even stay here during winter. The coastal meadows and dense bushes are nesting area for small waders and other small birds.

Regulations

Within Nabben Nature Reserve it is forbidden to:

• remove, dig, bore, paint or in any other way damage the ground, stones, boulders, natural objects, cultural remain or the sea bottom,
• cycle other than on public or private roads, on Skåneleden / Kullaleden, or on in the map plotted paths,
• ride other than on public or private roads, onSkåneleden / Kullaleden, or on in the map plotted paths,
• camp or erect equipment for overnight stay, park caravans, campers or similar,
• use disposable grills, light fires of wood or char-coal, or use grills other than in designated places,
• bring dogs or other pets unless on a physical leash,
• in a disturbing or noisy manner use music or sound equipment,
• make any form of construction or erect objects alien to the reserve,
• dump garden waste,
• deliberately disturb grazing animals,
• plant or sow plants or introduce animals,
• dig up plants,
• drive motorized bicycles other than on publicor private roads,
• drive or launch water scooters or similar watercraft,
• start or land with aircraft or fly remotely controlled unmanned aircraft, e.g. drones, at altitudes below 120 meters above sea level,
• place out or put up notice boards, placards, signs, posters or similar.

Furthermore, without written permission from the County Administrative Board, it is forbidden to:

• place out or put up paper strips, orienteering check points or similar devices other than temporarily, maximum 10 days, on condition that contact details and date of erection is written on the objects that have been placed out,
• hold or organize competitions or similar events,
• hold or organize camping activities or similar events,
• pull up boats on the shore.
