Description
Kyrkfuret is a forest area north of Lomma. Together with the Haboljungs fure nature reserve, Kyrkfuret forms an important green corridor between Lomma town and the coast. The area has many walking trails and a rich bird life.
Furrows that bound the sand
The pines or 'furrows' in Kyrkfuret were planted to bind the sand and prevent sand escape at the beginning of the 20th century. The pine stand, which is over a hundred years old, is probably the oldest in Lomma municipality, although it is now mixed with deciduous trees.
Yellow plover, medlar and other flowers
On the ground beneath the forest's foliage grow species such as skunk cabbage, yellow plover, woodland bengal and larkspur. But also cultivated plants such as pale balsam and medlar are common. In the more open areas, you will instead find field wormwood, yellow poppy and reindeer fern. Raspberries and blue raspberries grow in the forest edges.
Gläntan Svarta plätten
Svarta plätten is a glade in the eastern part of the area. All the trees were removed here in the 1940s. Perhaps to be able to conduct sand extraction. The slightly more hilly terrain in the southwest may also be a result of this.
Woodpeckers looking for insects in the old trees
Many birds live in the forest. You might see the little kingfisher with its golden "crown", or hear the chipping crow and the lesser spotted woodpecker pecking for insects in the old and dead trees of the area. At night, you can get acquainted with the great horned owl and various bats.
Well-frequented walking trails
In the southeastern part of the reserve is the Höje å trail. A walking path that takes you over the Höje river via the church bridge. But there are walking trails both by the river and in the area in general. As well as a running trail and parts of a bridle path. Remember to take your rubbish home.
