Description
Among soft hills and open fields lies Hunneröd's bog and in the southwest rises the wooded hill Frisbjär. Yes, in the Hunnerödsmosse and Frisbjär reserve you can stroll along flowering, sun-warmed slopes, see orchids in damp marshes or pause in the shade of the beech trees on the "bjär". An unmarked path leads to the forest at Frisbjär. You can roam freely in the open, grazed fields, but avoid dogs among the grazing animals.
Varied landscape
Man, together with nature, has created the varied landscape that you can enjoy here. The last ice sheet laid the foundations with sandy dry hills and damp hollows. The land has been managed as meadowland for a long time. Peat has been quarried in the bog, bringing the calcareous mineral soil to the surface and making it available to plants. The result has been a mixture of dry slopes with heath vegetation and dry meadows, and swales with nutrient-poor marshes interspersed with nutrient-rich calcareous marshes and deciduous swamp forest.
Rare plants and butterflies
The pride of the fen is the cornflower blue bell gentian with its companion - the equally blue alcon blue. The alcone blue wing is a real rarity that is only found at a couple of locations in Skåne. Further out in the marsh grows the inconspicuous orchid mosquito flower, no higher than five centimeters. The much larger orchid marsh marigold grows in the nutrient-rich limestone bog and can grow up to half a meter high.
The storm of 1967
In 1967 there was a severe storm that felled a large part of the forest at Frisbjär. There is a memorial stone in the reserve that was erected after the storm. At the edge of the forest towards the pasture, with shelter from the "bjär", there are some gnarled old oak and hornbeam trees that survived the storm. A perfect place for a picnic on a hot summer day.
Outdoor life
Hunneröds mosse and Frisbjär are located between Svedala and Skurup. The reserve has no marked trails. At the far south there is a parking lot. From here, an unmarked path leads to the wooded hill Frisbjär just next door. At Hunneröds mosse in the east there is a rest area. Remember to take your rubbish home. You can roam freely in the open, grazed fields. If you are interested in plants, it is a nice place to visit in flowering time. Avoid dogs in the pasture.
In English
Welcome to Hunneröds mosse and Frisbjär Nature Reserve
Man alongside nature has created the varied landscape that you can enjoy in Hunneröds mosse and Frisbjär Nature Reserve today. The last Ice Age laid the foundations, with sandy dry hills and damp hollows. The area has been managed as hay meadows over a long period. Peat has been extracted from the bog so that the chalky rich mineral soil has been exposed at the surface and made available for the plants. The result is a mixture of dry slopes with heathland vegetation and dry meadows, hollows with nutrient poor fens mixed with nutrient rich calcareous fens and wet deciduous woodlands.
The pride of the nutrient poor fen is the bright blue marsh gentian with its companion: the equally bright blue alcon blue butterfly, which is only found in a couple places in Skåne. Further out in the fen, grows the inconspicuous bog orchid, not more than five centimetres tall.
In 1967 a powerful storm ravaged through which felled a large part of the woodland at Frisbjär. The woodland edge adjacent to the pasture, is sheltered by the hill or "bjäret", and contains a few gnarly old trees of oak and twisted beech which survived the storm. A perfect place for a picnic on a warm summer's day.
