Bölsåkra-Tranekärr naturreservat, Naturreservat
- Nature reserve
- County: Skåne län
Actions
Description
The reserve is located by the sea between Skäret and Svanshall on the northern side of the Kulla peninsula, a few kilometers north of Jonstorp. Bölsåkra-Tranekärr has a varied landscape with dramatic rock formations, remnants of open coastal heath, fields and pastures, as well as deciduous forest groves and arable land. The Skåneleden trail passes through the reserve and the Kullaberg visitor center is one mile to the west.
Rocks, forest and pasture
The beach in the reserve is rocky and stony with extensive shingle fields. The rock is exposed on the slope and in the east near Svanshall are the remains of a large quarry with steep edges and a water-filled bottom. Oak and birch dominate the wooded part of the reserve, with elements of alder, aspen and rowan. Between the wooded areas there are open fields with mainly heather, crowberry and grass with elements of bellflower.
Remains of Kulla field
The coastal heath and the field land are a remnant of the former extensive grazing allotment Kulla Fälad, which once covered large parts of the Kulla peninsula. The easy access to the field, the variation between open and closed landscape, the coastal heath with pebble beach and the contact with the sea make the area very attractive as a hiking area.
Outdoor life
The Skåneleden trail runs through the entire reserve, from Svanshall in the east to Skäret in the west. The rocky coast offers fine views of Skälderviken and runs alternately through grazed fields and shingle fields - a Kullaberg in miniature! Along the way you also pass small ports. There is a nice rest area at the water-filled quarry in the far east. It is possible to barbecue at the designated places in the area. Remember to bring charcoal and to take your rubbish home. Toilets are no longer available. For a longer hike, you can continue into the reserve Nabben Link to another website. which connects to the west and runs along the coast to Arild.
In English
Welcome to Bölsåkra-Tranekärr Nature Reserve
The reserve offers plenty of variety dating back a thousand years. This land is part of what used to be known as Kulla fälad, pasturelands that extended along the coast from Helsingborg to Utvälinge.
Taking a walk up the Skåneleden trail will take you through lush deciduous forests, along pasturelands and out onto the open coastal heath. Stop for a while and enjoy the magnificent view across Skälderviken, with Hallands Väderö in the distance. The beach is rocky, with lots of shingle. There are pasturelands near the beach, covered with crowberry plants and heather.
A lot of people hike through the old pastureland, which is now covered in trees. Oak and beech are the dominant tree varieties, but you will also find alder, aspen and mountain ash here. The water-filled quarry is situated to the far east of the reserve. You can sit here awhile and enjoy watching the birds and insects at the water's edge, or use the adjacent barbecue area for a picnic.
A historic landscape. Cattle have been left to wander freely over the windswept pastureland for more than a thousand years, grazing among the juniper and heather. The sparse and once open pasturelands along the coast were shared by all - the villagers' animals grazed together here. Now just a tiny bit of Kulla fälad remains, mainly at various nature reserves along the coast.
