Östgötaleden växer i Finspång

The Östgötaleden trail in Finspång has gained four new sections, a new
loop trail, and better connectivity to the town of Finspång. With support from Region
Östergötland, the trail has been upgraded to make nature more accessible and
create more hiking opportunities for both residents and visitors.
The new sections are:
- Bönnern – Tjuttorp (with a connecting trail from Finspång Station)
- Tjuttorp – Falsnäset
- Regna – Tjuttorp
- Skogstorp loop trail
Another key part of the initiative is the new
connecting trail between Finspång Station and the starting point at Bönnerbadet. This
makes it easier to reach the Östgötaleden by public transportation and strengthens
the connection between the town and the trail.
At the same time, the relevant sections of the trail have been upgraded with
new signage, trail markings, and entrance signs with overview maps at
all starting points. These improvements make it easier for both new and experienced
hikers to find and plan their hikes.
The initiative is based on a project proposal from the Municipality of Finspång
aimed at improving the quality of existing trails and developing new
routes within the municipality. Among other things, the need was identified to reduce
stretches along roads, improve connections to the town center, and create more
attractive loop trails adjacent to natural and cultural environments.
Region Östergötland granted 200,000 kronor for
the project Renovation and Development of the Östgötaleden in Finspång. The work
has been carried out in close collaboration between Finspång Municipality, local organizations,
landowners, Region Östergötland, and other local stakeholders.
The new trail sections connect valuable natural and
recreational areas and create better opportunities for both everyday exercisers and
long-distance visitors to discover Finspång’s nature.
