Visttjärnliden comprises old-growth mixed coniferous forest and waterlogged forest, which are important habitats for many endangered forest species. Species that thrive here include the brash Siberian Jay and the Three Toed Woodpecker. The area is 1.4 square kilometres in size.

Communications

Visttjärnliden lies in the southern part of Älvsbyn Municipality. From the village of Södra Brännträsk logging roads lead northwards 1.5 kilometres as far as the reserve.

Directions

Along highway 94, just west of the nature reserve Rävabacken and 20 kilometers west of Vistheden, turn south. After just under 800 meters turn south again and follow the road for about 11 kilometers towards Södra Brännträsk. Then turn north on the forest road which after 1.5 kilometers leads to the reserve.

Regulations

All regulations can be found in the reserve decision. It is allowed to:

  • hike
  • camping
  • make fires, remember to bring your own wood!
  • pick berries and edible mushrooms
  • drive snowmobiles on snow-covered ground
  • fish and hunt in accordance with current laws
