Description
The primary pine forest on Västra Njaltaheden moorland offers the visitor and easy hike on the undulating moor. Most of the pine forest is young, but here and there you find truly ancient pines aged up to 500 years. On these old-timers you can see scars in the bark from several forest fires. The reserve lies about 40 kilometres southeast of Arjeplog. The most suitable way in is from the south, from the E45, Inlandsvägen, at Avaviken and northwards on the road to Storbodsund. About 4 kilometres after Storbodsund you turn right on to a logging road which leads through the reserve and on to the nearby nature reserve Östra Njaltaheden.
