Description

Sierre (previous called Serri) is an easily accessible nature reserve, where you can hike in a magnificent Lapland forest landscape with many lakes and streams. In Sierre there are several hiking trails, one of which is accessibility adapted. There is also a jetty and there are several resting sites and hearths, some of which lie a short walk from the road.

The area is 37.1 square kilometres in size. Snowmobiling is only allowed on designated snowmobile trails.

Serri is situated east of Jokkmokk. Go north on E45, then turn right towards Messaure. After that, there are sign posts leading to Serri. There are three car parks along the road which follows the northern limit of Serri.

The nature reserve is located about 20 kilometers from Jokkmokk on the east side of the Lule River. Take road E45 north from Jokkmokk towards Gällivare. You take an exit from the E45 and then another exit, both of which are signposted to Sierre/Serri nature reserve.

Regulations

All regulations can be found in the reserve decision. It is allowed to:

  • camping
  • hiking
  • make a fire
  • picking berries and edible mushrooms
  • fishing and hunting in accordance with applicable laws

You can drive snowmobiles on existing, marked snowmobile trails and on well-snow-covered ground. It is not allowed to damage plant and animal life. Remember the right of public access and protect nature!
