Description

Here you find an old growth pine forest where certain individuals are up to 300 years old. The dead wood in the area is important to many today rare forest species. Everywhere there are hills and ridges with large and small glacial boulders. In addition to Kåtamyrbäcken stream, several smaller streams flow through the area. Around the streams, the forest is more verdant, and here we see spruce, birch and a number of large oldgrowth aspen. The area is 2 square kilometres in size.

Kåtamyrbäcken lies about 4 kilometres east of Larve. From road 97 you reach the nature reserve via a road which leads in towards the southwest at Jokkmokk Airport. From the E45 you get here via a logging road which heads northwards towards Larve.
