In this reserve, there are old-growth, pristine forests that bear scars of forest fires in times past. When you hike in the scenic, hilly esker landscape, you can see both slender pine forests on lichen-covered ground and verdant, leafy, waterlogged spruce forests. The area is 2.5 square kilometres in size.

Kåbdajaure lies about 15 kilometres north of Vuollerim. The most suitable way to the reserve is at Murjek to turn onto a large logging road heading westwards and follow the road for about 14 kilometres as far as the eastern reserve boundary. Just where the road passes the reserve there is a roughly 1.2-kilometre logging road into the central part of the reserve. This latter road however, is overgrown and unsuitable for an ordinary car.

Just where the road crosses the reserve, there is a forest road about 1.2 kilometers long that leads into the central part of the reserve.
