The Monument of Inlandsbanan

The monument was created by the artist Tord Pettersson and was inaugurated in 1997. King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia were present at the inauguration. At the Gällivare Cultural Museum, there is another memorial to the Inlandsbanan. This consists of a large (and half) painting depicting two railway rails and is painted by the local and internationally known artist Erling Johansson. The other half, which also depicts two rails, is in Kristinehamn. That is, at the other end of the Inlandsbanan railway.
