Glöden (The glow)

The large building that is being built in central Gällivare is the municipality's largest investment in history. It will meet the development of society and the need for new meeting places as the town changes through mining and urban transformation. It is planned to be inaugurated in 2029.

Glöden is intended to bring together several functions under one roof. Here, culture, sports and community life will coexist with events, meetings and spontaneous activities. Examples of activities will be a library, bathhouse, cinema, restaurant and creative workshops. The basic idea of ​​Glöden is to create a flexible and year-round usable environment that suits both children, young people and adults, regardless of interest.

Through Glöden, Gällivare will be strengthened as an attractive and vibrant municipality, where new residential areas, schools and public environments are connected with modern meeting places for the entire community.
