Description

The primary forest in Gallejaur Nature Reserve has plenty of trees that are more than 300 years old. With any luck you will see a Siberian Jay peeking out from a lichen-draped spruce, or hear staccato snare-drum rolls coming from a Three-toed Woodpecker and echoing among the trees. The nature reserve lies adjacent to the cultural reserve Gallejaur. From the village a trail leads into the forest. In the village, Gallijar-Järvlia Heritage Association runs an information building with a café and toilets. It is open certain periods of the year. The association also rents out an overnight cabin in the village. The nature reserve is 1.1 square kilometres in size. Note that there is a ban on snowmobiles.
