Description

Fish, jog, bike or birdwatch. Södra (southern) Bergundasjön Lake offers a wide range of outdoor and nature experiences. The good fishing for zander, pike, perch and bream is something both anglers and birds appreciate. White-tailed eagles, ospreys, grey herons and goosanders are often seen. During migratory periods, the lake is regularly visited by large flocks of terns, common swifts and swallows. When weather shifts abruptly, marine fowl such as common eider and common scoters visit the lake. Sundet, Sallhagsudden and Sjöanäs are good places to look for rarities resting a bit from their flight. You can also see red necked grebe, little gulls and black gulls fairly often.

Facts

New dietary recommendation due to PFAS in fish:

Analysis results show increased concentration of PFOS in fish from lake Trummen, Växjösjön and Södra and Norra Bergundasjön and the levels exceed the EU's health-based guideline limits. This means that those who eat a lot of fish from the lakes risk consuming too much of this and similar substances, the so-called PFAS, in the long run. Ingesting a lot of PFAS for a long time can be harmful to your health. According to Växjö municipality's dietary recommendation, one should therefore not eat fish from these lakes more than one (1) to three (3) times per year. The advice applies to everyone, both children and adults, including pregnant and breastfeeding women. This applies until further notice.
