Description
Lilla Attsjön lake is one of the best bird-watching locations in Växjö municipality. Almost 100 years ago, the wetlands were drained. Today, the lake has been recreated and is now filled with teeming life. A lovely trail passes two windbreaks, a picnic area and two bird towers. In spring and summer you can experience whooper swans and cranes, and listen for the cuckoo and the common snipe. A lively colony of black-headed gulls and nesting tufted ducks and common goldeneyes are other exciting features. Rare birds here include the gadwell and the little grebe. In 2006, Lilla Attsjön was visited by the rare citrine wagtail.
