Description
This is a legendary site at naturreserve Luberydsmossen in Annerstad, Ljungby, Småland.
There is a large rock here, split into two parts. According to legend, a priest named Ivar was so devout that he could walk on water.
One day he sinned and prayed for forgiveness. He asked that if he were forgiven, the stone would crack as a sign.
Shortly afterwards, a loud noise was heard, and the rock split in two.
The visible crack in the stone is what connects the story to the place.
The site is part of the Land of Legends in Småland (Ljungby, Alvesta and Älmhult), where natural formations are often explained through stories and recognized by UNESCO.
The Museum of Legends in Ljungby shows how such stories helped people understand the landscape.
The site is accessed via paths in a nature reserve and is suitable for walking.
