Description

Route Såganäs – Diö approx. 4 km .

Just west of the bridge between Såganäs Lake and Kattesjön Lake you can land with the canoes if you want to visit Linnés Råshult cultural reserve. Follow the road to the west for just under a kilometer. This is where Carl von Linné was born in 1707. The area is a cultural reserve with paths to stroll along, houses and gardens. The canoe trail leads through Kattesjön lake all the way to the town of Diö. It passes below the railway (Malmö – Stockholm) and Linnéleden (road 600, Älmhult – Liatorp). Helge river is blocked by a power station in Diö, which means the canoes must be carried here. Keep to the right after the country road bridge and the landing place is to the right of the small island. Take the canoe out of the water and carry them as signposted for about 150 m. The canoe trail follows the shore to the north for a few hundred metres and at Diö swimming area you’ll find the canoe campsite. There’s a BBQ area, toilet, firewood, rubbish bin and water here.
