Description
The meadows in Bökhult are a part of the recreational area of South Möckeln are protected by the traditional roundpole fences. Horses and sheep somtetimes graze here and the different seasons welcome visitors with beautiful splendour and is an appreciated spot in Älmhult.
This is the way for bikers and pedestrians on their way to Bökhults lakeside beach, to the boat-harbour or to Näset.
Since 1995 the maintainence of the surroundings is taken care of Bökhults village association together with the Municipality of Älmhult.
The purpose is to keep the landscape open and to ensure biodiversity. Grazing animals increase the amount of valuable plants, insects and birds. A grazing meadow can hold as many as 40 different species per squaremeter.
