Discover the beauty of Småland:

Banvallsleden stretches coast to coast, from Kattegatt to the Baltic Sea, between Halmstad and Karlshamn. The trail intersects with several other routes, allowing you to start and finish at the same place while still following a marked path. Take the opportunity to enjoy beautiful bike rides through the Småland landscape. Here, you can cycle along disused railway tracks, past pastures, open landscapes, communities, and into the deepest of Småland forests.

Start: Ljungby

From Ljungby center, follow the Banvallsleden signs, red signs, to Ryssbygymnasiet. From there, turn north towards Hörda/Lagan and follow the Sverigeleden signs, green signs. In Sunnaryd, follow the Hylteleden blue signs to Bygget. In Bygget, follow the Banvallsleden red signs back to Ljungby.

Ljungby to Ryssby (Banvallsleden)Cycle along the old railway embankment through varied terrain. Make a stop in Ljungby and visit the Fairy Tale Museum or the Miniature World with the old Bolmen Railway, which you will cycle in miniature, before reaching Ryssby.

Ryssby to Sunnaryd (Sverigeleden)At Ryssby Gymnasium, turn north and follow the Sverigeleden signs, green signs, through Lagan, Tannåker, and over the island of Bolmsö. This part of the tour takes you through open landscapes and over lakes. You pass through small villages and get to experience the Swedish countryside up close. When you reach Bolmsö, take the Bolmen Ferry across Lake Bolmen to Sunnaryd.

Sunnaryd to Bygget (Hylteleden)

From Sunnaryd, follow the Hylteleden signs, blue signs, towards Bygget. This trail takes you through Halland’s open cultural landscape, past beautiful lakes and deep forests.

Bygget to Ljungby (Banvallsleden)

From Bygget, follow the Banvallsleden signs, red signs, towards Lidhult and Ljungby. This trail takes you through deep forests and nature reserves, along old railway history, past beautiful lakes and open landscapes.

You pass through picturesque villages and beautiful forests. Stop in the villages to enjoy the scenic surroundings and perhaps have a coffee at one of the local cafes and stay overnight at one of the cozy hotels or bed and breakfasts along the way.
