Description

Angelstad Church is a medieval church constructed in stone, plastered, and whitewashed, with the oldest parts dating from the late 12th century and early 13th century. During the 17th century, the nave was extended westward, and a porch was added. The semicircular chancel in the east was extended in 1806 with a sacristy on the church’s northern side.

The interior is characterized by neoclassicism with a wooden barrel vault ceiling. The chancel’s stained glass window was added during the renovation from 1927 to 1931 and was created by Albert Eldh.

The bell tower was constructed in 1760 in wood and stands north of the church. It is of an open belfry type with a bell house covered by a curved roof with a spire. The bell tower houses a large bell from 1609 and a small bell from 1861.
