Karlskrona is located in the far southeast of the country, a city in the middle of the archipelago, surrounded by 1,650 islands, islands and skerries, designated by UNESCO as both a world heritage site and part of the Blekinge Archipelago biosphere reserve. The city was founded based on Sweden's military needs, which gives Karlskrona a unique history.
