Description

Just west of the village of Frösslunda is Källarbacken. During the first part of the 19th century, farmers on the island began to grow potatoes. The rapid increase in cultivation led to the need for cool, frost-free and dark storage facilities. Each farmhouse in the village had its own storage cellar here.

During the bright and warm season, Källarbacken is still used for communal gatherings such as family reunions, homecoming meetings, etc.

Frösslundamossen, located to the southeast, is an example of a shallow alvar lake with a water depth of just over one meter. To the east there is a pine forest with some deciduous trees. The bog is a high-class bird site, no other parish on Öland, apart from Ås, is as well visited by birdwatchers as Stenåsa. In the 1950s and 1960s, the bog was used as a bathing place for the village children, in winter they skated, and played hockey matches against other villages in the parish.

The runoff from Möcklemossen goes over Frösslunda Alvar, via Frösslundamossen and Frösslundabäcken to the Baltic Sea.
