Description

In 1967, the Nelson family proposed that their land be protected. A few years later, this nature reserve was created, a pine-clad hill surrounded by beautiful beech forest. The reserve has allowed nature to take care of itself, to the delight of ticks, birds and other inhabitants of the forest who appreciate old trees and dead wood.

Leaves and conifers

In the nature reserve, tall beech trees stand out like a pillared hall. Only a small part of the sun's rays penetrate the dense foliage of the forest. The vegetation on the ground is therefore sparse, but among the spring leaves there are still some to be discovered, such as cornflower, musk madder, wound lichen and the orchid Virgin Mary's keys. In the barren rocky areas, the trees are sparse. Various bush lichens dominate here, which crackle dryly as you walk across the rocks.

Moss walls

In the borderland between the beech and pine forests there are damp rock walls. Mosses thrive here, including blue moss, trap moss and golden curl moss. They are all signal species, which means that the forest they grow in has high natural values.

Tour of the forest

From the parking lot, a 650-meter long path leads around the reserve. In the center of the reserve, a smaller path takes off from the main path and then leads further up the mountain, where you have a nice view of Stenboviken in the southeast.
