Forsfall

Öland's only waterfall is on Stora alvaret. The usually flat limestone on the alvar is here cracked and a steep slope has been created where water flows down in a steep rapids during snowmelt and major rain. The runoff from Stora alvaret flows eastwards and the water eventually reaches Åbybäcken, which flows under the eastern highway just south of Gårdby. Around the waterfall there are remains of an old dam.
