Emån, Nyboholm till Klövdala

The total length of the Emån is about 22 miles. The river starts in Nässjö municipality and flows into the sea on the border between Oskarshamn and Mönsterås municipalities. The river is classified as a Natura 2000 site with a large number of valuable species linked to the water system, both in flora and fauna. The river contains more than 30 different fish species, with characteristic species such as catfish, sea trout, salmon and ferna. Within Hultsfred municipality there is a stretch of just over 50 km of the Emån river. There are two different fishing areas on this stretch.

The first stretches from Nyboholm, Kvillsfors in the west to Klövdala in the east. This stretch of river is part of the Järnforsen fisheries management area. It also includes lakes such as Järnsjön, Vensjön, Oppsjön and Viksjöarna. The river can be found adjacent to the road that runs between Målilla and Vetlanda. The river is surrounded by forest and farmland and contains both streams and calm flowing sections, environments that suit different fish species and different fishing methods. Where the river is narrower, it is shallow and current and in the calm flowing, wide and sharp turns, the depth can be down to 5 meters, sometimes even deeper.
