The building was erected around 1860. The regiment's line of battle was based on one long side of the storehouse.

The two-and-a-half-storey storehouse (24 x 12.4 meters) was used to store the personal equipment of the conscripts and the regular troops, such as uniforms and shoes.

In order to save money, the armed forces introduced 'wear and tear' allowances for the soldier's personal effects. In 1873, soldiers received SEK 1.50 per meeting for shirts, socks and shoes. For scarf, hat and underwear - including washing - he received SEK 4.32.

Although equipment was scarce, almost every year after 1870, pieces of clothing were sold at auction.
