Description

Voxtorp Parish Church.
The current church was consecrated in 1845, replacing an older church from the
Middle Ages.

The church is built
in an east-west orientation and consists of a rectangular nave with a round sanctuary
apse in the east and a tower in the west. The vestry has been extended in the
northern part.

The church is built
in a neoclassical style. The roof is covered with sheet copper. The façades are
stylistically simple and made from white plastered stone.

The interior is well
preserved, representative and largely original. The pews, retable, pulpit and
organ all retain their original appearance and contemporary colours.

There are also
artefacts that remain from the previous church. A triumphal crucifix from the
Middle Ages in the arch towards the sanctuary, an altarpiece in baroque style
and a medieval christening font.

There is also the
so-called Trolltavlan painting from the 17th century on the gallery
substructure and several coats of arms. These tell of the history of the
previous church and parish.
