Description
Beautifully situated on top of the hill on Vallsjö meadow stands an old rune stone with the text "Väsäte and Ivar and Sylva, brothers three made bridge, this and put stone, this after Tjälve, father his".
The different locations of the rune stone
Originally it was erected at a basin bridge between two marshes, southeast of Vallsjö old church. Traces of the old road between the marshes can still be seen and where the bridge once stood, a small stream runs. Around 1820, the rune stone was moved to be used as an entrance bridge to one of the houses in Vallsjö. When the house was demolished around 1850, the stone was moved and came to serve as a road sign on the old highway. In 1938 it was moved to its current location, near Vallsjö old church.
