Description

Rydaholm Parish Church
is a hall church and single-nave building from the early 12th century, built in
granite. The church steeple with its twin spires and porch are original. The
Rydaholm church steeple is built from square-cut stones. Rydaholm Church was
rebuilt in the 18th century, as the old nave was considered too small for the local
parish.

The roof is covered
with standing seam metal sheet, which corresponds to the choice of material on
the church roof. The façade is smoothly plastered and painted in a light beige
tone, which picks up the colour of the sandstone.

The whitewashed
church interior dates from the 1790s. Inside the church there is a triumphal
crucifix, a christening font and several stone reliefs from the Middle Ages.

Rydaholm Church differs
significantly from most other churches in the surrounding area, in terms of the
choice of building material, its workmanship and the nature of the adornments.
Rydaholm Church rests on a foundation of squared granite.
