Description

Per Inge Bjørlo is a Norwegian sculptor and painter who trained at the Bergen School of Arts and Crafts (1974-1977) and the National Academy of Fine Arts (1977-1981). He is a pioneer on the Norwegian art scene, for both his graphic art and his installations. From the beginning of his career, he has used industrial waste in his art. He uses rubber, glass and pieces of mirrors for his installations. What all his pieces have in common, whether paintings, prints, sculptures or installations, is that they depict an inner mental landscape and space containing memories and experiences.

‘Riktning’ (Direction) is made of acid-treated steel and is fitted with lighting inside. It is best experienced in the dark. It can only be viewed from the car or from a distance. You may not enter the roundabout where the artwork is located without special permission. ‘Riktning’ was purchased by the Municipality of Värnamo in 2003.
