Artwork, ‘Motio’

The ‘MOTIO’ artwork is mounted on the façade of three sides of the Park Arena sports centre.

The artist has been inspired by different sports and physical movements and sees the work as a monument to the different movements of the body.

The design consists of three groups of figures, placed on a wall each, engaged in different sports: running, football and basketball. The figures are monumental, 4-6 metres high, and represent people. The shapes are transparent, made of steel tubes and assembled into nets painted in bright colours, contrasting with the subtle colour of the wall.

The artist, Aleksandra Stratimirovic, is from Serbia. She often works with light in her artworks and has created several public artworks in Sweden. She studied glass and ceramics at the Belgrade Academy of Fine Arts and lighting design at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm.
