Artwork: Momentum

The sculpture is very
large and reminiscent of different tree shapes that wind around each other but
also of rubber. Artist Carl Richard Söderström’s (born in 1960 and based in
Stockholm) vision was for ‘Momentum’, which is made of bronze, to be an
abstraction of the journey of rubber pulp through production when the factory
was still active and the largest workplace in Värnamo.

He does not want to create
too many associations for the viewer, but the art should be open to
interpretation. Carl Richard is inspired by natural forms in his work, but also
by epochs such as the Gothic and Baroque periods. He works a lot in layers and
with the structure of the artwork.

The sculpture has
been made possible largely thanks to a generous bequest from Siri Bergkvist,
who worked at Värnamo Gummifabrik for many years. The sculpture is made of
bronze and is four metres high. Purchased by the Municipality of Värnamo in
2022.
