Description

‘Mellanrum’ (In-between Spaces) is inspired by Rydaholm’s history as a market town. The artwork depicts a market street with bronze buildings winding their way towards the top of a hill. As a viewer, you can enter the sculpture along the market street and let your imagination wander.

The sculpture is based on an inverted perspective, with the buildings getting bigger the higher up the hill they are. ‘Mellanrum’ was purchased by the Municipality of Värnamo in 2011.

Lars Sonerud and Henrik Campanello collaborate on formations under the name Sonerud/Campanello. They like to be challenged, such as when encountering problems that others cannot solve, so they can push themselves and find unconventional solutions.

The sculpture is accompanied by a poem about the market and the in-between spaces:

Once upon a time, in fact many times, there was a market. From time to time this place was the same, and from time to time it looked different. Offerings varied and expectations changed. What was happening between the stalls? What was discussed and what was decided? What happened in the in-between spaces?
