Description

The artist Lenny Clarhäll studied at Konstfack (University of Arts, Crafts and Design) in Stockholm and the Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. Initially, he sculpted mainly in wood and large wooden structures became his speciality. Over the years he has reduced his design language and moved increasingly towards abstract forms and started to work with other materials.

Lenny Clarhäll’s artwork is both engaging and informative for the viewer. He has produced a large number of public works, from the memorial in Ådalen in 1981 to monumental sculptures for the Gothenburg Opera. He has also written a number of texts that have been published.

‘Malmtagaren’ (The Ore Extractor), located outside the church in Hånger, is made of bronze and cast iron. It depicts one of the many men who worked to extract ore from the lake bed. Purchased by the Municipality of Värnamo in 1994.
