Description

The artist Ebba Bohlin has been inspired by the history of Horda’s landscape, which once existed but is no longer visible, and she has tried to highlight its memory in her creation.

By studying the work of Carolus Linnaeus and reference material on various species, she identified the lungwort lichen, which was once common in this area. The lichen grows on deciduous trees such as birch and alder and is an indicator species that is now red-listed due to air pollution and felling. The lichen is green and resembles lung tissue in its structure, hence the name. In the past, it was believed that it could be ground and used as a cure for lung diseases. The sculpture is positioned between the trees in Järnvägsparken Park.

Ebba Bohlin studied at Konstfack in Stockholm. Her art is often based on a physical, tangible spatiality. An awareness of bodily experiences is present regardless of her chosen media, which include installations, sculptures and sound works.
