Description

The three sculptures, ‘Klotet’ (The Sphere), ‘Tetraeden’ (The Tetrahedron) and ‘Kuben’ (The Cube) by Pål Svensson are located at Borbackaskolan School in Bor. Pål Svensson studied at the Valand Art Academy in Gothenburg, and since then he has produced some 30 public works. They are all based on his interest in materials, abstraction and spatial relationships. He is best known for sculpting in stone but has also worked in glass, stainless steel and bronze. “I seek the opposite of stone, to set the soft against the hard, the fine against the coarse, the wet against the dry,” he says.

Nature is Pål Svensson’s main source of inspiration. His work is characterised by a strong commitment to public art and the interplay between art and architecture. He often makes two or more sculptures that interact with each other, as is the case with the artworks at Borbackaskolan School. ‘Klotet’, ‘Kuben’ and ‘Tetraeden’ represent the three basic forms. ‘Klotet’ is the circle in three dimensions and is eternal. Purchased by the Municipality of Värnamo in 1997.
