Artwork: Glädjerum

Christian Immonen is
based in Värnamo and pursues a wide range of artistic endeavours. He makes
paintings, sculptures, photographic art, installations and video art. In 2009,
he founded the art fair V.art09, organised together with the Värnamo Cultural
Council at Värnamo Gummifabrik. He later developed it into V.art11, together
with his colleague Kristina Bergqvist, and out of that work grew V.art/Artist,
which aims to promote exchange between different artist constellations and
groups.

‘Glädjerum’ (Room of
Joy), which is made of sheet metal, hangs on the façade of Stockholm School of
the Arts. He says of the work: “Glädjerum is the room you find yourself in when
you are in a flow as an artist. Time disappears somewhere between thought and
action without you being aware of what is happening. As an artist you are in
the world where nothing can stand between you and the work you create, the artwork
speaks to you and gives you instructions on how to complete what has been
started.” Purchased by the Municipality of Värnamo in 2000.
