Description
Bruno Mathsson (1907-1988) was one of Sweden’s most internationally recognised furniture designers, and an architect. The first chair Mathsson designed was the Gräshoppan (Grasshopper). Designed in 1931, it had a curved wooden frame and a saddle strap seat.
Many chair models have since evolved from it, including the Mina, whose original design was conceived in 1942, but the form we now see in the Mina first appeared in 1978. The art piece consists of two bronze armchairs placed in Bruno Mathsson’s own place in the centre. They were purchased by Swedbank in 1986, and the municipality took over their care and ownership in 2019.
