Description

The artwork ‘All Inclusive’ depicts a 1.2-kilometre route between Rörstorp train station and Vandalorum. The artist Klas Eriksson is now based in Gothenburg and has held numerous exhibitions in Sweden and Europe. The choice of flagpoles relates to a piece he created in 2015, a highly acclaimed work of art in the form of a broken flagpole.

“I see it as a way for the group of flagpoles to meet in a more natural way; when they are stripped of their function they can hang out with each other more freely,” says artist Klas Eriksson. The flagpoles cannot fly flags and thus function as a global sculpture by default: ‘All inclusive’. It challenges its reading with something other than just flags of various kinds, whether they are nations, cities or companies. “The design challenges perspectives with its different lengths and placements. The idea is that everyone is welcome to Rörstorp and Vandalorum, that art is free, something that does not feel obvious in today’s society,” says Klas Eriksson.

Purchased by the Municipality of Värnamo in 2018.
