Description

The village of Hullaryd was once a lively gathering place with market traditions dating back 500 years. There was an inn, a courthouse, an army muster, a post office and a telephone station. The courthouse is located on the old road towards Lommaryd church and the marketplace is the open grassy area south of the courthouse.

Around 1750, Hullaryd became the district court for Norra Vedbo härad. The district court was housed in the innkeeper's house until a separate courthouse was built in the 1790s and put into use in 1800. Hullaryd also had an execution site until 1837. It was located slightly to the east in a forest edge. However, Hullaryd lost its central role when the railway was routed via Tranås, where the district court was also moved in 1909.

Nowadays the courthouse is a private residence.
