Description
Åminne Bruk is a
well-preserved industrial monument run by the Åminne ironworks museum.
At the turn of the
century, the business was moved from old Åminne to its current location, next
to Lake Vidöstern. The main building is made of red brick with stepped stone
gables. The building housed a blast furnace, a foundry, a washing plant, a core
shop and a mechanical workshop. There are also three separate buildings in the
industrial area, a coal bunker, a warehouse and a weighing house. Åminne Bruk
is a cultural heritage site and a well-preserved industrial site with machines
and tools. It is a listed building. The blast furnace has been preserved, as has
the foundry, where you will find an exhibition on the history of sea ore and
iron processing in Åminne. There is also a three-cylinder blower and a coal
house. Operations at the ironworks ceased in 1934, with about 70 people employed
at the time. The foundry at the ironworks continued operation until the 1990s.
